Liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry combines chromatographic separation with mass-spectrometric detection. Properly reported intact-mass or tandem-MS data can support molecular identity.
What a useful record should identify
- The catalog item and specific lot tested
- The LC and MS method or instrument approach
- Calibration or reference basis
- Observed result and interpretation
- Test date and document source
Important limits
LC-MS does not automatically establish chromatographic purity, quantitative content per vial, sterility, endotoxin level, stability, or suitability for a particular experiment. Those attributes require appropriate methods and records.
